IMPORTANT: The Camp Sunshine 2020 summer session is currently on hold.

Government health requirements regarding COVID-19 - e.g., social distancing, wearing of face masks, etc. - are still in flux. The Camp Sunshine staff is awaiting final guidance from the CDC and other Federal/State health agencies.

When received, we will assess its impact to determine if the summer program can be adapted to provide an enjoyable recreational experience while protecting the health and safety of the campers and staff.

An announcement with be emailed and posted on this web site as soon as we have clarification of those requirements.

Recreational Programs for Children and Young Adults with Multiple Disabilities

Camp Snowflake

Camp Snowflake, founded in 1970, is a similar program to Camp Sunshine, with its reliance on one-to-one attention and its adapted activities. Snowflake meets once per week, on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., from September 15, 2018 through May 4, 2019, except for holidays. Camp Snowflake serves as a recreational and social meeting place for approximately 38 campers during the school year.

Activities include arts & crafts activities, adapted games, and monthly trips to places such as the Bronx Zoo, local bowling alleys, movie theaters, Liberty Science Center, Van Saun Zoological Park, and Minor League Baseball Games.
